Here are the answers to the most common questions about our "Total Band Experience" workshops.
- What are the terms of a band workshop?
- 8 weekly sessions on a regularly scheduled day/time
- $240 per student
- 90 minutes per session (4 or more members)
- 75 minutes per session (3 members)
- 60 minutes per session (2 members)
- Who can sign up?
- Kids (9 -12), teens (13-17), and adults.
- Do I need to be taking lessons currently?
- Ongoing private instruction is strongly recommended for all but advanced players. We can provide you with a private instructor, if you don't already have one. Vocalists are not required to take lessons, but we recommend they do so.
- Which instruments make up a student band?
- Instrumentation varies based on registration and chosen musical style.
- Typical Rock Band (minimum of 4 members)
- 1 Vocalist
- 1 Guitarist
- 1 Bassist (limit 1 bassist per band)
- 1 Drummer (limit 1 drummer per band)
- Optional Members
- 2nd Guitarist
- Pianist/Keyboardist
- Additional Vocalists
- Percussionists (no additional drum set players)
- When do workshops begin?
- Student bands are always forming and registration is ongoing. There is no "missing the boat", here!
- How can I get my child(ren) involved?
- Fill out our online registration form which gives us an idea of how to place you or your child in a student band. You can also email info@nyschoolofrock.com or call 845.279.3279.
- Is it possible to group my child(ren) together with friends?
- Yes, as long as they are of similar age and performance level. We encourage parents to assist us in recruiting band mates for their children, as this helps to form complete bands more quickly and place students with friends or relatives.
- I've completed the Online Registration form. Now what?
- We will review your information and contact you shortly, regarding the placement process.
- If you've registered as an individual, we will put you in a pool of "free agents" and will work to find band mates for you. Read more...
